Dr. Ren-Jye Dzeng is currently a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management) from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, U.S.A. in 1989 and 1995 respectively. For the past two decades, he has actively devoted himself in teaching construction engineering and management at the department, and conducted interdisciplinary learning and research as well as several administration services, such as serving as the Vice President of General Affairs for NYCU, and also served as the chairman for the department in recent years. Drawing upon more than 10 years of experience leading the Eco-City Center (Eco-City: Smart Living Technologies Integration Center) at NCTU as the CEO, his research interest shifted from conventional construction management towards interdisciplinary development, including for example, innovative applications of AI, IoT, BIM, brain EEG, vision-based and non-vision-based human action recognition to construction safety and simulation. He also published more than 50 research papers in international journals.
